Casey Anthony's Lawyer And The Bar
Casey Anthony's lawyer Jose Baez is in deep shit or at least the Florida Bar wants him to be. He is being investigated for hiding info from the court that resulted in a clerical issue giving Anthony a break in her probation case. So in other words, Baez might be in trouble for ethical reasons. According to the Orlando Sentinel, Chief Judge Belvin Perry heard from Anthony's defense team regarding if she should be required to serve probation, due to pleading guilty to 13 charges in a check fraud case, back in early 2010. During this time, Perry questioned if they knew Casey was serving probation while in jail and on trial for the murder of her daughter. One of Anthony's attorney's said they knew but didn't think it was on them to let the court know.
So to all that mumbo jumbo the judge had this to say, "The failure to abide by that order and the failure to notify the court of a known scrivener's error in the order may be a violation of an attorney's duty of candor. No attorney should conduct himself or herself in a way that impedes an order of the court. ... Our system of justice should never be in the position of rewarding someone who willfully hides the ball."
To that we say, WTF! We're no lawyer or know all the laws that are the law but it seems the court should have all the info on a defendant. They should know their favorite meal, blood type and whether or not they love Oprah.
We probably aren't very ethical however this smells a bit fishy.
