Riot On Hollywood Boulevard

Usually, a movie premiere on Hollywood Boulevard does cause some chaos with blocked streets, gatherers gathering, stars and their handlers walking red carpets but this is not what happened yesterday at the premiere of "Electric Daisy Carnival Experience." A documentary featuring electronic music popular at raves, created major pandemonium due to an immense crowd showing up that got way out of hand. DJ Kaskade, a performer featured in the movie, invited fans to a 6pm block party (on Hollywood Blvd) via tweet saying, “ME+BIG SPEAKERS+MUSIC=BLOCK PARTY!!!” Around 6:30pm is when shit hit the fan.

A cop got on a loudspeaker talling fans they had 5 minutes to leave the premises and at that moment, some dancers arrived and excited the crowd, dancing so hard, that the cop nor his car could take it anymore which resulted in him driving off, as reported by the LA Times.

Chief Executive Pasquale Rotella of Insomniac Inc (the company behind "Electic Daisy Carnival") tweeted that he could not get to his own shindig sarcastically saying, “What genius organized the street party!” then “I’m pretty bummed.” At the time, guess Rotella (also the name of a canned good) didn't realize it was one of his feature acts in his movie that's to blame.

Although Kaskade later tweeted, “EVERYONE CHILL NOW!!! The block party has officially been shut down! BUT THIS IS TOO CRAZY AND WE NEED TO BE SAFE!”... “I AM REALLY CONCERNED FOR EVERYONES SAFETY AT THIS POINT! PLEASE RELAX”... “EVERYONE NEEDS TO GO HOME NOW!” You'd think since his fans listened to the tweet to show up they would listen to the tweet to leave, but NOPE.

Around 15 officers showed up to get the crowd the hell out of dodge but the crowd didn't leave. Instead they gathered around the cops. About 15-30 minutes later, the ccps tried to push the crowd toward a street off of Hollywood Blvd and was somewhat successful with some but that is also when others in the crowd jumped a cop car breaking the windshield. Police then shot off nonlethal beanbags to try to get the crowd to leave however many in the crowd ran back to Hollywood Blvd.

Within a 2 hour span, the crowd eventually left. Cops arrested only a few people for f-ing up the cop car and failure to disperse.

I wonder how the city feels about cutting some of the funding toward law enforcement.
