Lada Gaga... As A Man

MTV/John Shearer

She opened up the show at the MTV Video Music Awards all dolled up in manly attire, channeling her alter ego Jo Calderone, singing her latest hit, "You and I."

For those of you that think she is a man, is this what you pictured?

2011 MTV Video Noms Announced

Still not quite sure why a network that no longer really shows videos still has an award show for them...and why the artist gets all the glory when the director is actually the one who made the damn video. I get that some artists collaborate or come up with the concept of their own video but come on...

Anyway, the odds of Katy Perry at least walking home with one award are pretty good considering she leads the nominations with 9. She earned 3 noms for her video, "Firework" alone.

Adele scored a total of 7 noms for only 1 video. Yes you read that correctly. For her awesome song, "Rolling in the Deep." Kanye West, taking that much needed break not too long ago, also got 7.

Eminem, Nicki Minaj, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars and Beyoncé were not ignored getting 4 nominations each. Who was ignored for their solo work however was Rihanna. She was nominated by association as Kanye West was nominated for "All Of The Lights" which features her and Kid Cudi. Eminem was nominated for "Love the Way You Lie," which also features her. In case you are wondering, Chris Brown nabbed some noms.

Those battling for the big one, Video of the Year, are: Beastie Boys, “Make Some Noise,” Bruno Mars, “Grenade,” Adele, “Rolling in the Deep,” Tyler, The Creator, “Yonkers,” and Katy Perry, “Firework.”

You dudes, as in the public, can get more info and vote for Best New Artist by clicking here.

The big show airs live August 28 on MTV at 9 p.m. ET with the host not being known at this time, as reported by Entertainment Weekly.

By the way, since all the other blogs posted pictures of Katy Perry since she leads the nominations, I thought I would post a picture of Rihanna, for kicks.

Not Feeling The City

So is anyone still watching MTV's, The City? Whitney and her band of NY well-placed friends are just to predictable. I tried to make myself watch it but feel asleep... What do you think?

Whitney In The City

Okay so when I heard some peeps were trying to compare Whitney of Mtv's The Hills and The City fame, to Sarah Jessica Parker (SJP) a la Carrie Bradshaw in Sex And The City, I had to tune in. I will give them a high five on the visuals... the style of the show was cool, but definitely no SJP. I also feel like Erin and Olivia were trying to hard. Grant it, I only saw the first 2 episodes so who knows how it is going to turn out but for now, I give it a C (+ is for effort). Thoughts?

Britney's Docudrama

So I thought Brit's documentary last night was more like a docudrama. Does she not go through major drama on a daily basis or what (i.e., paparazzi, her pops, being Britney in general)? As if anyone with a pulse did not know that already. The best part was when she mentioned Justin, as in Timberlake, and how down in the dumps she was over the breakup because she was so famous! Does anyone remember her telling us during the documentary how famous she was? Hmm aren't we modest. Oh and another fave was when she met up with 2 dudes in NY from the Broadway show she saw... seemed like Ms. Spears wanted some of that. I want to know that story. I also want to know who the dude was asking the questions...

Aubrey O'Day

Aubrey of Danity Kane fame got kicked to the curb on the finale episode of Making The Band on MTV Tuesday night. Ditty don't like her attitude or her swagger as he does not believe she sheds a positive light on the group. D. Woods is hangin in the woods cuz she got kicked to the curb too. I guess Aubrey is tryin it solo... yeah good luck with that.

All You Hills Fans

Whitney got her own show kiddies! MTV has finally let all of us know as we could not compose ourselves, YAWN. Anyway the show takes place in New York and is called, The City, which is such a brilliant name. I wonder how long it took to come up with it... The Hills... The City, hmm. At least Whitney will be working for Diane von Furstenberg who rocks! This tidbit of info was reported by MTV Networks. Thanks for MORE reality dudes.

Brit Sets The Record Straight

Per People, Ms. Spears, partnered with MTV, shot a documentary set to air two days prior to her album, Circus, dropping. The documentary is about Brit's chaotic life yadda yadda yadda these last couple years yadda yadda and yadda. This riveting documentary is set to air on November 30th.

Paris And Her BFF

Geez and wow are the first two words that came to mind when I found out about this show. Here’s the thing, I have nothing against anyone trying to be famous, famous for being famous, and or getting money thrown at them in the process, hence Paris Hilton. She was born into this so if anyone has issue with it, blame the paparazzi and her parents for having sex, not necessarily in that order. However, I do believe a person has a choice to make something good if given the opportunity, and this MTV show, Paris Hilton’s My New BFF, does not sound like it had a chance from the get go. Just the name of the show alone...yeah I believe this one will be a fart fire folks.
I will say this; I do like the teaser for the show with Paris kickin back in a lounge chair, but even that is reminiscent of the Funny or Die bit she did against John McCain, which is classic.

Luda

MTV News reports, Ludacris's pool house was destroyed by a fire that broke out yesterday. At this time it is unsure how the fire started. Luckily no one was hurt in the blaze, except the ego of other hip hop stars that found out Luda's pool house, is bigger than most homes. So now that they've been enlightened, those rappers are running out to build a pool house larger than Buckingham Palace.

It's Britney Bitches

Ms. B finally takes home not 1 but 3 Moonmen. You know it is not like I go out and buy Britney cds or anything; however if one of her tunes comes on the radio like Piece of Me , I will jam out to it. Anyhoo she is all pop and it is clear the pop world still wants a piece of that. I will not be too harsh with Brit Brit but I will just say this, not sure if she should have won all 3. The winner for Video of the year should have a little more action going on in the video. I'm just sayin.
