Designer John Galliano... Guilty

Galliano not guilty of any fashion fines, but guilty of hate crimes according to Forbes. The former Dior designer to the stars and others who can afford it, was convicted of making racist remarks and anti-Semetic comments today in a Paris court. He was fined $8,500 (which is 6,000 euros), one symbolic euro ($1.40 - talk about assault) to each plantiff and 16,500 euros ($23,200) for court costs. Now the 6,000 euros he was fined is a conditional fine. If John is not found guilty of any crimes for five years in France, that fine is suspended.

Backstory:
On a couple different occassions, John assaulted some people. On February 24th 2011, he was arrested and accused of assaulting two people at a french cafe. On Oct 8th 2010, he allegedly (at the time) verbally attacked a 40 year old woman also at the same french cafe, La Perle. The conviction and fines are a result of these actions.

He also loves Hitler.

Cops Popped For Violating Civil Rights

We at rant and roast are not too surprised at this one. However, it is too bad that the circustances surrounding this took place in New Orleans post-Katrina. According to CNN and the Just Department officials, five officers were found guilty today on a combined 25 counts of civil rights violations, bound to fatal shootings on New Orleans' Danziger Bridge, in the chaos of Hurricane Katrina. The jurors reached a verdict after three days of deliberations. Sentencing for Kenneth Bowen, Robert Gisevius, Robert Faulcon, Anthony Villavaso and former detective Arthur Kaufman is expected to go down in December.

Software Malfunction in Casey Anthony Trial

According to The New York Times, John Bradley who designed CacheBack software, which is used by police to check computer searches and was used to search Casey Anthony's computer to see how many times the word "chloroform" was google searched, testified in trial saying the word was searched 84 times. Bradley later said his intitial findings were incorrect and that "chloroform" was only searched once.

The New York Times also reports that according to John, in searching for the word "chloroform,"the google search led to the site, sci-spot.com, which is a site that offers info on the use of chloroform in the 1800s and this is the one finding he is referring to.

Bradley feared the jurors did not have the most up to date accurate data based on his new findings, so he contacted the police and the prosecution the weekend of June 25th. He asked Sergeant Stenger (the computer forensics expert) about the issue, and Stenger said he knew about it. Bradley then waited to see if prosecutors would correct the record. They never did and to that Bradley said, “They needed to get that right."

Curious, why was the word searched at all?

By the way, the Orlando Sentinel is reporting that Anthony's defense has billed the state of Florida $147,018 so far. This implies there is more bills to come. I hope this state is still feeling the sunshine!

What The Hell: Look Who's Brown Nosing Casey Anthony

I guess I need to either be a hoe or go to jail to get money from strangers...Casey Anthony has been financially benefiting from admirers while sitting in jail facing murder charges for killing her daughter Caylee, for which she has now been acquitted. According to ABC News, since May this chick has been receiving checks from 17 people and that number is steadily on the rise since the not guilty verdict. Canadians, bankers those with a criminal past including aggravated assualt and sex offenses are all on this "giving" bandwagon.

The average balance of an inmate's account is $36.30. Currently Casey has $472.18 in hers. Anthony's been getting her stash mostly from men. I'm sure they'd be happy to know she is purchasing snacks and make-up with their donations. Perhaps she will go a step further and use the money toward helping change her face altogether due to all the death threats she's been getting. Somebody donated 100 bucks just this week. Casey did not send one of them a thank you note.

What is wrong with people?

Jurors In Casey Anthony Trial Can't Stomach Themselves

For those that were and still are all kinds of mad over the verdict of Casey Anthony being acquited of murdering her 2 year old daughter Caylee (see previous post), you might feel a little better knowing the jurors are struggling with their verdict, so much so, that they were sick to their stomachs. If you wonder why they give a shit at all considering the "not guilty" verdict, check out the video quoting Juror number 3, nursing student Jennifer Ford.

Update: According to TMZ, Casey gets out of jail Wednesday, July 13th and this story is still developing.

As Steve Hirsch, Founder and Co-Chairman of Vivid so vivdly put it, ""Whether you agree with the verdict or not, Casey will want to move forward with her life and has a right to make a living. It’s not going to be easy for her and we believe we can help her make the transition into a new life.... We’ve all seen the pictures of her partying and having a good time with friends where she definitely looks hot."

Casey Anthony, Not Guilty

I'm sure plenty of you are pissed off out there but 7 women and 5 dudes came down to the decision of acquitting Casey Anthony of murder, according to CNN. Casey Anthony is the high profile case that for some has been the drama they turn to rather than Law & Order to hear tireless testimony on if she killed her 2 year old (at the time) daughter Caylee. I guess the partying and acting unmother-like while her daughter was missing was not enough to prison this mother. Lets not forget that Casey cannot be tried again due that whole double-jeopardy rule thing, not trying someone for the same crime twice. However a small few believe this is a victory for the U. S. Justice System, as the jurors did not listen to the media but the evidence which was largely circumstantial, making the verdict they chose based on "beyond a reasonable doubt." Click the video to check out her reaction to the verdict.

So now the question is, who murdered Caylee?

Uh Oh Blago...

Ex-Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich found guilty on 17 counts of corruption charges as reported by the Chicago Tribune.

I'm not understanding why he's stunned by the verdict since they have him on tape shaking people down. He should've autotuned himself and only then, will we possibly believe it is not his voice on the recordings. Juror 103 said what really did it for them, was the evidence of Rod selling President Obama's old U.S. Senate seat. BLAGO!

OJ Found Guilty

Shortly before 11PM last night, the Las Vegas jury reached a verdict of guilty on all 12 counts for The Juicer including armed robbery and kidnapping. Honestly, I do not see how any juror could not think about the publicized murder trial he faced 13 years ago to yesterday's exact date. OJ could face life in prison on the kidnapping charge alone. Even if the judge does not throw the book at him, the minimum time to serve on that charge is 13 years. OJ is 61 years old. Simpson's lawyer, Yale Galanter, argued that the investigators targeted Simpson and filed overblown charges and that there was no criminal intent. Yale is appealing the verdict. OJ is scheduled to be sentenced on December 5th, and will remain in the county jail until then.
I am sure the judge and the jurors will have book deals before this week is over. Do you feel OJ got a fair trial?
